Certified Recycling

eRecyc is R2v3 Sustainable Electronics, ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental Management & ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Certified. This indicates our commitment to secure data destruction, IT asset recycling, and upholding environmental, occupational Health, and safety standards across our organization. These certifications ensure the thorough destruction of sensitive data and the safe handling of e-waste, minimizing environmental risks.

Nationwide, there exists a significant amount of electronic waste, encompassing old computers, monitors, printers, phones, and IT peripherals. The increased national emphasis on recycling has led to heightened awareness regarding the appropriate disposal of these obsolete electronics.

R2v3 The Sustainable Electronics Reuse & Recycling

The standard provides a common set of processes, safety measures, and documentation requirements for businesses that recycle e-waste. R2v3 is rigorously and independently audited, emphasizing quality, safety, and transparency. Developed by a group of recycling stakeholders and facilitated by the EPA, the R2v3 certification is a set of voluntary principles and guidelines designed to promote and assess responsible practices for electronics recyclers. R2v3 requires implementing a management system that is accountable for practices affecting worker health and safety, security, the environment, and the downstream management, both domestically and internationally, of end-of-life electronic material and equipment. It encompasses rather than replaces the legal obligations of electronic recyclers.

Additionally, R2v3 is particularly focused on electronics, which contain cathode ray tubes, circuit boards, items containing mercury and PCBs, and batteries, and seeks to ensure that these materials are not incinerated or landfilled. To make sure we are meeting these goals, eRecyc’s process for handling materials is based on a reuse, recover, and recycle hierarchy. The most responsible way to handle items that come into our facility is to first test them for possible reuse through re-marketing or donation to nonprofits.

Anything that cannot be reused is broken down into its core components and then sent for processing to become a new raw material. Our Zero Landfill Policy also requires us to vet our processors to ensure they meet our same strict practices for properly handling hazardous materials. R2v3 Sustainable Electronics Reuse & Recycling Certification also ensures our clients that no material will be illegally exported.

ISO 9001 Quality Management

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 9001 Certification is defined as the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS). Organizations use the standard to demonstrate their ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. When broken down, quality control management can be segmented into four key components to be effective: quality planning, quality control, quality assurance, and quality improvement.

ISO 14001 Environmental Management

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 14001 Certification further guides eRecyc’s commitment to environmental protection by providing a framework for the company to help reduce their environmental impact. The core of ISO 14001 is the implementation of an environmental management system that minimizes the harmful effects a business may have on the environment. In addition to demonstrating a commitment to decreasing office waste and increasing the recycling of materials, eRecyc has developed plans to reduce consumption of electricity, natural gas, and diesel fuel.

ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 45001 Certification ensures a strong commitment by eRecyc to occupational health and safety throughout the organization. By developing a concise management system that identifies any health and safety hazards that may be present in their facility, eRecyc’s goal is to minimize the risks faced by employees, visitors, and clients. Through regular staff training and internal auditing, ISO 45001 outlines the processes necessary for the continual improvement of safe practices.
